Day Ninety Eight 2012
This is what happens when human fingers accidentally come in contact with the propeller of an electric engine radio controlled airplane--a visit to the emergency medical clinic, seven stitches total on two fingers, a tetanus shot, and a bottle of antibiotics. My hubby Neil's passion for flying RC airplanes sometimes backfires on him, quite unexpectedly, especially when one of his electric airplanes suddenly takes off (total freak accident) and the wing hits him in the leg, turns the plane right into his hand, and the prop slices through two of his fingers (to the bone on his ring finger). I can't even begin to explain to you how this happened. He says he was going out of his way to be extra careful around the propeller. Suffice it to say, this was a comedy of errors (daughter Kelly and I were laughing so hard we had tears). And it could have been so much worse. For this RC pilot, lesson learned. The hard way.

Day Ninety Seven 2012
Grandson Knox is here this weekend and brought his mommy with him. He's four months old now and cute as a bug. In this picture, he's checking out the pattern on the quilt that Neil and I bought for his mom just before she was born almost thirty-five years ago. What goes around, comes around, as the saying goes.

Day Ninety Six 2012
This looks like an insect wing, doesn't it? It's a macro shot of a tree seed (one of what seems like millions covering everything on and around our house right now). I refer to them as those 'whirly things'. They look like helicopters spinning in the wind. If they all took root, we'd have ourselves a nice little forest in about twenty years.

Day Ninety Five 2012
Hubby Neil had the day off today. We spent the whole day outside, cleaning the deck and porches and weeding (Neil's job). Grandpeeps Shelby and Elijah joined us after school. We treated ourselves to some Mae Pearl's frozen yogurt, then tossed the Frisbee around on this bee-you-tee-full day. Fun times. We are pooped!

Day Ninety Four 2012
Play Ball! Grandson Elijah played his first T Ball game of the season tonight. He was a short stop in fielding, and he ran like the wind (as you can see in the second picture) when he hit that ball. His team is the Diamondbacks (or D'Backs). They beat the Orioles 15 - 9. Good game, Elijah!

Day Ninety Two 2012
Peeps at Poet's On The Square Coffee House this afternoon: niece Sarah, sister Jane, daughter Kelly, grandson Knox (his first visit here), niece Julia, and grand daughter Shelby. We enjoyed some tasty cool (and hot) drinks and just hanging out for a little while on this most beautiful April first. And that's no joke.

Day Ninety One 2012
Daughters and grandkids spent Friday night with Neil and me. We stayed up late and woke up late and enjoyed Neil’s homemade blueberry waffles for breakfast. It was an awesome spring day so we headed outside where grand daughter Shelby communed with neighbor kitty Lily.
We dusted off the jug of bubble soap and Shelby blew some bubble art.
Temporary bubble art, big as your head!
Grandson Elijah made friends with a caterpillar and named him ‘Jeff’.
‘Jeff’ was a pretty fast crawler. Elijah put him in a paper cup with some grassy weeds to climb on.
Grandson Knox was diggin’ the great outdoors, too, but didn’t get into the creepy crawly action. He’s a little wiggle worm in his own right.
Saturday (and everyday) Peeps! Daughters Kelly and Holly and grandkids Elijah, Shelby, and Knox, who found more interesting things to look at than my camera.
Bubble art with purple lilacs. Our lilac bush has lots of blooms this year.
Also pretty in purple, a gorgeous iris, which is the Tennessee state flower. The end of winter and start of spring has been so hot that only a couple of the iris plants bloomed. Made me sad. Love these.
Speaking of creepy crawlies…Neil was weeding around our house and almost put his hand on this snake. We think it was a copperhead which is poisonous. It was poised to strike, sticking its forked tongue out at us. I got close as I could to take this picture. (You can click on the picture to enlarge it if you like). Elijah said, “I hate snakes!” Shelby said, “Off with its head!” Neil obliged with his hoe. Gave all of us the willies!
Grandson Knox in a rare on-the-belly pose. Hard to believe he’ll be 4 months old on Monday. Good times, great memories! Happy Saturday, everyone!

Day Eighty Nine 2012
God writes the gospel not in the Bible alone, but on trees and flowers and clouds and stars. ~Author unknown, commonly attributed to Martin Luther

Day Eighty Eight 2012
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Day Eighty Six 2012
My mother, Hampton Gailbreath Mabry, is 91 years old today. This is one of my favorite pictures of her, stylin' in her (1940's) swimsuit and having a great time with her best friends at the lake. Happy Birthday, Mom! I love you!
